Subject: check your battery voltage

Message: Newer cars have a 'battery management system' that usually turn the voltage down to 12.3v or so once battery charged up quickly after start. If cold, like 30F, voltage will stay up. Most cars have a way of reading battery voltage through the menus.

On GM cars, turn on your headlights! The voltage will go up to 13.8v and sit there while the headlights are on. Don't know about other make cars.

My IC-706 won't run well on 12.2v. Shuts down, chirps on cw if it stays on. Turn on headlights on the 2016 Malibu and no problem. Had same problem on the 2009 Malibu too!
