N5MLP - Monday 09/12/2022 to Monday 10/24/2022 using SSB Only
My 2022 trip to the National Convention via TX, NM, AZ, UT, ID, WA, OR, MT, CA, and NV

REVISED version as of Sept 2nd: Trip is now 43 days in length and will begin on Monday, September 12th which is two days earlier than originally planned. Many routes were shortened in terms of miles per day, but very few counties were deleted. Many counties were changed to new dates, although the order in which they will be run is largely the same except for the following changes:

a) WAYNE UT – was moved to an earlier date in the route (9/17) and it will not be run any other day.
b) MORGAN UT – was moved forward to an earlier day also (9/18) and it will not be run any other day.
c) POWER ID – was added to the route on 9/19 after Cassia ID.
d) VALLEY ID – was moved one day earlier from 9/21 to 9/20. e) LOS ALAMOS NM was removed from the 10/20 route but is on the 10/21 route.
f) EDDY and LEA NM will only be on the 10/22 route.
g) RUNNELS, COLEMAN, BROWN, and MILLS TX were deleted entirely and replaced by CONCHO, McCULLOCH, and SAN SABA TX which now appear on the 10/23 route.

1. Good for 5*, Bingo, 3 Bingo Cinco credits, N prefix, 1x3 call, Master Gold, Master Platinum (including valid Mobile Diamond contacts for those with Master Platinum)

2. 43-day trip in ten states beginning Monday, September 12 and ending Monday, October 24. I intend to complete transmitting from AZ, UT, OR, WA, CA, and NV during this trip and get self-credit for seven of my last nine counties for Mobile Diamond. The counties I need for MD are all in OR, WA, and ID and appear in the list with MD after the county name.

3. I am trying to get new band contacts on 12m, 15m, and 17m this trip as well as 20m and 40m. My rotation will be 12m, 15m, 17m, 20m, and 40m. I may be able to add 10m and 80m to the rotation, but that is uncertain now. ( I will update these notes prior to the trip to include those bands if I am able to do so.) In some instances, I will probably not finish all bands before we run out of the county in some counties.

4. I will have my cell phone with data and hot spot capability to post myself if needed in counties where I have Verizon coverage, but may not have coverage in some of these areas.

5. I have planned each day to accomplish as much as possible without making the day too long for my wife who is driving on the way to the convention. Therefore, I will not be able to deviate from the planned counties on this trip. 6. Notice: This is my intended route, but deviations may occur if I run short on time any day, encounter bad weather, experience road closures, traffic congestion conditions, or other reasons.

N8HAM - Monday 09/19/2022 to Monday 10/17/2022 using SSB Only

Michigan, Indiana, Illinois Going to be running interstates from home to Iowa and likely will be randomly putting out counties but not posting. Hard to do while driving interstates and don’t want to stop—Across I94 to I80 into Iowa—as quickly as possible.

SSB only—sorry. Will do 40, 20, 17, 15 in that order.

I have never been good at judging what I can get done in a day so I’m not going to try. I also am not sure I can get all of these in before Bozeman. If it gets close I’ll have to cut short and boogy to the convention. If I get there early I will add somewhere.

By the way—my truck does stop at every RR museum! Text only--no phone calls please--248-719-8696

W4SIG - Monday 09/26/2022 to Sunday 10/09/2022 using SSB and CW

Tentative route to MARAC National in Bozeman, MT. Will first fly into Las Vegas and begin my journey from there. Will run mainly on county lines as will have to pull over and swap antennas between every band change. In the early mornings I will start on 80m and run up through 15m. Later in the day I may start on 15 and work my way down to 80m. I will be running late into the night, so Eastern stations may have to put on a cup of coffee as I have a lot of miles to go each day, sometimes as much as 600 miles. Often, I will be driving for several hours after my last county run of the day so I can get a head start on the next day’s route. Will be carrying a tent and sleeping bag in case I have to stop between towns with hotels. My route will more than likely change if (when) I fall behind schedule. Please no phone calls, but feel free to text me at 901-331-1881.

K3IMC - Thursday 10/06/2022 to Monday 10/17/2022 using SSB Only
This is my planned return trip from the Bozeman Convention. If you followed me on the westbound half of the trip, you are probably familiar with my operating profile, but I will summarize it again.

Most of the counties will be put out on the fly in the order 40m, 20m than 17m. If 40m is dead, I may bypass 40m. On request, I will put out CW, including 30m, but I have to stop.

If you need CW or a trip modification, I prefer texts on my cell at 706-302-0725
