Message: ARRL Kid's Day will be this Saturday, June 20 from 1800 to 2359 UTC. A few years ago, my granddaughter operated Kid's Day from my station and had a ton of fun. She knows that I am an Advisor with the CW Academy and asked if I could teach her Morse Code. I said I would work with her but she had to make sure she kept her grades up at school and her other activities such as dancing, soccer, volleyball, etc. I also told her that it had to be fun or we would have to find something else to do. She wanted to learn with a straight key so I found an old MFJ-557 and we were off and running. After less than a year, she now knows the code and has moved onto a set of N3ZN paddles given to her by her friend, Ben, K3GG. She has been working hard and this 10 year old is ready to operate Kid's Day from my station using the special callsign, K1D. She will be on 20 and 40 CW about .060-.065 up to avoid any POTA, contest or digital operations. If you hear her, please give a slow, easy call and be part of her FUN!!! I'll try to spot her. She will be in Delaware County, OH. tom KV8Q
